This is my 4th year on the board. I am happy to continue working with the board after finishing a 2 year term as President.
I joined board so I could get more active (hands on) in how I contribute to my Deaf Community. I love working in a dynamic team on common goals like equal access to services and information.
I’m also on the ASLIA (NSW) & Deaf Australia boards. I was on the Management Committee of Deaf Education Network (DEN) before they merged with the Deaf Society of NSW.
I’m currently employed at the Ephpheta Centre as a Community Worker. In my spare time, I enjoy catching up with friends over a coffee or drink & spending time with my beloved family.

As my favourite singer recently sang: "I'm back!" With a sign name to match!
I have worked in this role, as secretary and board member, over 10 years ago. Worked on several different boards, including DEN when it used to be known as Adult Education Centre For Deaf & Hearing Impaired People. Since then I have travelled, and become involved in a few different projects, some which I hope will see the light of day soon, and one that is quite infamous now, The Rebuttal.
Why am I back? To kick arse, and change people's perceptions of WHO Deaf people are, WHAT Deaf people can do, and protect the Deaf community from becoming a fossil. But I can't do all this by myself, that's why we have a team, Deaf Australia - NSW. But we still need your help, so come on and get involved!

I currently work as a Project Officer coordinating the accredited Auslan courses we teach at the Deaf Society of NSW (DSNSW). Sometimes I teach as well.
Before this I was an Australian Volunteer working for 2.5 years with the Fiji Association of the Deaf helping them to make their first sign language dictionary and set up an interpreter training course. In the past I have worked as an actor with the Australian Theatre of the Deaf (ATOD) and as a Rehabilitation Counsellor placing people with disabilities into employment. I have also been on the Deaf Education Network (DEN) board and I am pleased to join the board this year.
coming up soon......
My name is Sokong Kim. I am on the board of Deaf Australia (New South Wales) in the hope that I can make a positive contribution to the organisation in their efforts not only promote and advocate Deaf issues, but also to the growth and development of the Deaf Community as we move forward into the future.
I joined Deaf Australia (New South Wales) board last year as a non-executive member to experience something different and to be more hands-on in the Deaf community.
This year as President, I hope to see the NSW Deaf community become stronger and more united.
I am a full-time mother to two little girls. I also work casually as an Auslan community course teacher for Deaf Education Network (DEN) - the Education Division of the Deaf Society of NSW (DSNSW).
I love to read when I have time, and enjoy going out with friends. I also like to volunteer my time to various projects and events in the Deaf community.

I am a full-time IT specialist at the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) at North Rocks.
I moved to Australia from South Africa 2 years ago. I was on the Board of Directors for South Africa Disabled Golf and on the committee for Department of Communications (National), Committee for ICASA (Independant Communication Authority of South Africa), Committee for DPSA (Disabled People of South Africa), and Chairman of the Izuluthu Foundation.
In Australia, I am volunteer for Signpost (Australia Deaf program).
I joined Deaf Australia (New South Wales) board in March 2009 to help the NSW Deaf community to develop and improve in all areas of life and make NSW a Deaf-friendly state.
